Sean Bean cancels extravagant wedding at the last minute
Guests invited to celebrate actor Sean Bean's fourth wedding were left surprised this weekend, when the Sharpe star and his actress girlfriend Georgina Sutcliffe called off the ceremony just 24 hours before they were due to say "I do".
"It has come as a huge shock to everyone," said a guest at the cancelled reception, which was set to take place at a plush Mayfair hotel. "We were told the wedding was off at the last minute, and that it was because of personal reasons."
The couple, who have been dating since meeting two years ago in a London bar, have a famously turbulent relationship. "We don't know what happened for sure," continued the guest. "But we assume there has been an argy-bargy and that they called the whole thing off as a result."
However, the couple themselves seem unphased by the change in arrangements. "We've just rescheduled because of personal issues and work commitments," explained the 29-year-old would-be bride. "Sean and I have just got back from Rome and I'm absolutely shattered. He's here with me at the moment. It was a wonderful holiday. We do intend to get married shortly."
The marriage was set to be the Sheffield-born star's fourth. Aged 19 he tied the knot with childhood sweetheart Debra, a relationship which came to an end when he moved to London to pursue his acting career. He then wed actress Melanie Hill in 1990. The pair split in 1997 with Sean marrying Abigail Cruttenden - who played his wife in Sharpe - the same year. They divorced in 2000.

Orlando Bloom visits UNICEF programmes for children in Nepal

KASKI AND CHITWAN DISTRICTS, Nepal, 10 January 2008 – Another Hollywood movie star might have felt strange in a remote and impoverished area of Nepal, but actor Orlando Bloom seemed perfectly at ease.
A recent UNICEF-supported visit to Nepal took Mr. Bloom on a four-day journey to various programme sites in the western districts of Kaski and Chitwan.
Accompanying Mr. Bloom on the trip were UNICEF South Asia Regional Director Dan Toole and UNICEF Representative in Nepal Gillian Mellsop. Besides touring UNICEF programmes, he visited Chitwan National Park and Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
Women in Kalika village welcomed Mr. Bloom by smearing his forehead with red ‘tika’ and putting garlands of flowers around his neck.
In Kalika village, Mr. Bloom’s forehead was smeared red with the ‘tika’ with which local women had welcomed him, and he wore garlands of flowers they had given him upon his arrival with the guests from UNICEF. [....]
In Pokhara village, Mr. Bloom mingled with over three dozen blind girls and boys. He also played a small role in a mini-drama the children were recording that day for the UNICEF-supported radio programme ‘Saathi Sanga Manka Kura’ (Chatting with My Best Friend).
The drama dealt with the plight of girls in a hostel without a female warden. Mr. Bloom played the role of a guest who tries to offer the girls advice. “Talk about your problems,” he said, consulting the script provided by the children. “There’s no need to feel shy. It’s always good to talk about issues that concern you.”

The people spoke and sang
Viggo Mortensen was impressive, reading in both English and Spanish at Wednesday night's taping of the "The People Speak" at the Cutler Majestic Theatre. But his a cappella version of Bob Dylan's "Masters of War" prompted the first standing ovation of the night.source

He just looks Russian in 'Eastern Promises.' There's one scene where Naomi Watts gets on the motorcycle. Viggo is standing by a post and not moving: 'Where'd you get that bike?' I was impressed with how minimal he was; I just bought that he was a Russian hitman. And I love the fight scene, and doing it nude is quite an achievement. You have no protection, no room for pads. You have no room for faking. Yes, I'm going to vote for Viggo."

"Getting his grab on at the after-do was Orlando Bloom. He skipped the actual show, but nonetheless found time to paw Aussie model Miranda Kerr inside the Kodak’s ballroom. The two cutie-hons looked very couple-esque, very ready for a prime-placed mention in People, as they canoodled and danced together. Wanting not to be seen, they were not. Why’s that, babes?"
